Regular readers may recall the saga of $FinancialMisadviceCo, documented in many of these posts.

Email just received from action group:
"On Friday 19 December 2008, $FinancialMisadviceCo was placed into Administration by an application to court under paragraph 22, Schedule B1 of the Insolvency Act 1986"

Bwa ha ha ha ha! That'll teach them to advise people to invest in bridges in London apartments that will never be built! Oh, wait ...

Receding Closure?

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007 02:07 pm
At the beginning of September I was approaching closure with $FinancialMisadviceCo, who had offered me money to shut up and leave them alone.

It is now the beginning of October.

"Dear $FinancialMisadviceCo,
You are still useless and I still have to chase you. WTF?
kthx,
me"

"Dear T
We are sorry we are so useless it was someone else's fault I will chase them
Mr. 'Compliance'"

That drumming noise you can hear is my fingers tapping. Tapping like little hammers tapping inside their Branez.

Have filled in and sent back client details that Financial Advice Co should have been telling *me*, together with a request for details of their compliance procedure which is not mentioned on their website.

Have already mentioned, I believe, my Property Investment: paid for two years ago, not actually built yet (as I discovered very recently) and, despite my efforts six months ago with Financial Advisor, still mine.

Financial Advisor has moved to Australia, apparently: it took me some time to find that out. Since then I have been dealing with his boss, D, to whom I last (and indeed first) spoke over a month ago.

Emailed D earlier to enquire what was happening. Have just had a stroppy email from him going on about me not answering my mobile (I have told him several times that I work in a mobile-free zone) and how I need to go and see him in person before anything can happen.

Not what he said before.

I am SO SICK OF THIS. Despite the company's stated objective of staying in touch ("... to empower our clients by giving them the necessary information and tools that enable them to make better personal, lifestyle and financial choices.") getting information is like getting blood out of a stone.

re car / insurance

QUINN DIRECT ARE BAD. And incompetent. And possibly have left me with no valid insurance at all. I did point out to them that I'd have a problem if the new car was four *hours* late, let alone four *days*.]

Also they have managed to update my postal address so it reads:
[first line of my address]
[second line of garage address]
[town I live in]
[postcode of garage]
and then had the temerity to make me answer security questions to prove I was who I said I was, as clearly I didn't know my own postcode because it's not mine.

TOYOTA TOLLHOUSE ARE GOOD. My salesperson was away yesterday, but rang me this morning to announce that he'd arranged a courtesy car, and yes, my co-insured could also be put on the insurance.

So:
- all ok, and I have a co-driver for weekend excursions
- I will warn everyone I know about QUINN DIRECT
- When renewal time comes, I will insure via a reputable company that knows how to work its own computer system
- I may also write a Stroppy Letter, though I am not sure that anyone there can read

Am new at this. What happens if I want to desert Current Insurer before renewal date?

Yay for Barclays!

No, you read that right ...

One thing I'll say for Barclays: they made me laugh today. )

Two-faced

Closing Barclays business account:
process started last August, still ongoing, multiple 'thank you for taking the time and trouble to share your disappointment' letters, ridiculous bank charges grudgingly withdrawn.

Closing Barclays personal account:
process started last Wednesday, cheque for closing balance in post yesterday, closing statement and confirmation of account closure in post today.
Sent a 12-point letter to Barclays last week regarding the non-closure of my business account, and their enterprising attempt to stiff me for overdraft charges incurred as a result of keeping the account open and charging me for sending statements.

On Saturday, I received a statement indicating that the bank charges had been reversed. No letter, o no: just a statement.

Today, I am in receipt of a letter beginning, "Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share your disappointment about the service you have received from Barclays."

Lovely. I shall put it with the others.

American Edit has kept me warm on a very chilly evening. I do like remixes (oooh, sorry, must call 'em mash-ups these days) with a sense of humour.

Hmm ... someone must've mated mashed Goldfrapp and ZZ Top ...

RAGE

March 1st, following news of Paid Employment: ring Barclays to transfer some money from business account to FirstDirect

March 6th, following discovery of Massive Overdraft on FirstDirect account: ring Barclays to enquire as to whereabouts of said money.

It hasn't gone across and they've no record of any call. They are transferring the money for me again, but it won't be there until Thursday.

I am looking at my BT bill. I can see the call: 1st March, 13:54, 2 minutes and 42 seconds. Not to mention my ticking it off on my 'to do' list, surely Evidence of a sort.

This is not how I was planning to spend my last afternoon of freedom, pre-Employment.

They're "very sorry".

I have threatened to take my business elsewhere. Any recs?
