moved

I am now living north of the Thames for the first time since July 1987. Go me! (Actually, am not going anywhere for a while. Moving is hard work. Am feeling quite grown-up about having done it by myself instead of having to rely on others to drive.)

There is a great deal of sky. And light.

There are insufficient felines. (But have been Zil'd.)

There are many books.
from letting agent: "I’m so sorry but our accounts department have now told me that the first figure was right so please ignore my last email to you."
from me via email: "thank you! best news all day"
from me via telepathy "CAN HAS NO MORE EMAILS KTHX"
Email from letting agent: "the amount we have received from you for his over paid rent is £34.71 less than we need it to be. The amount Ravi should be refunded is £485.15 and not £450.44."
email to letting agent: "the shortfall is probably because your original email said that the rent was overpaid by £450.44, see attached email."
telepathy in general direction of letting agent: "GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE"

In other news, have spoken to solicitor who was all smiles and cheer like someone doing her job properly. Have agreed to send her ~40 unnumbered pages received by fax in February 2000 when I was buying the place. "Yes," she says, "of course 'office copies' refers to Land Registry stuff."
telepathy in general direction of solicitor "WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO THREE WEEKS AGO? NOW GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE"

Cunning plan: I will go away and leave them alone.
Selling my flat is driving me up the wall and round the bend.

Back in early September I got very stressed by a long list of questions from my solicitor -- managed to track down answers to most of them but didn't have a clue about the others. I emailed solicitor to say I didn't have the information and didn't know where to find it.

No contact from solicitor until today when she has sent me a letter asking the two questions again. No acknowledgement of my answers to all the other questions *or* my email asking for help.

I am going to have to drag the entire $OldFlat boxfile into werk tomorrow and phone her, and hope that I can get something sorted before I go away. This is really stressing me out.

So it would be a real lifeline if any of you can advise on ...

obtaining 'copy consent of when the flats were originally built'

and

confirming 'whether any breaches have been made by construction of the road

Sam in his new home

Sam and Shiva are esconced in their new home, Chez [livejournal.com profile] residentevil666. (There has been some Bad Language.)

We went to pick them up on Saturday afternoon. I'd asked R to keep them indoors, and starved, but when I rang to say we were en route, she told me that Shiva'd gone missing -- hadn't been seen all day.

Leaving [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray to herd children, I went out into the garden and called My Cat. And My Cat turned up within five minutes. Bwa ha ha ha ha. more cat-moving news )
Last night I went through the back of the wardrobe. Several times, in fact. As did [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray, who undertook the task of constructing it while I did the room-design equivalent of a three-dimensional jigsaw. Luckily, we were able to rotate the shelf unit through a previously-unnoticed transdimensional portal by the door.

So now I have a canvas-covered yurt wardrobe, a room designed for lounging around with cats (i.e. stereo, books, laptop within easy reach of bed) and a sense of Home that I never really had in my last place. Perhaps it's because I spent most of my teenage years in a very small bedroom: small rooms feel cozy and homely to me in a way that large airy rooms -- for all their other advantages -- never will.

Wardrobe? ticky.
Lion? something scary at the top of the stairs this morning
Witch? no, that's my landlady <g> and she ROCKS.

Am now Moved, and mostly Sorted, and more convinced than ever that I have the most fabulous friends in the world. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sbisson, [livejournal.com profile] marypcb, [livejournal.com profile] ivory_goddess, [livejournal.com profile] techno_fear, and [livejournal.com profile] soulstar for services above and beyond what anyone would expect, including:
- getting nearly all my possessions into R's loft
- getting the rest of my possessions to Kent
- then getting said possessions upstairs
- being excellent company even when my nerves frayed a little
- being reassuring
- understanding perfectly when I was soppy about leaving [livejournal.com profile] samandshiva (who will be joining me next weekend, unless R reneges in which case I shall set her family on her).

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] residentevil666 for not biting me very much. Hahahaha! I slept through your 3am welcoming party!

And above all thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray for being better than the best friend I could have imagined. Not only transport, not only soothing messages, not only a room of my own, but Lush shower gel! Prawn cocktail! Pink drink! Pink fridge!

And an internet connection that works.
