Selling my flat is driving me up the wall and round the bend.

Back in early September I got very stressed by a long list of questions from my solicitor -- managed to track down answers to most of them but didn't have a clue about the others. I emailed solicitor to say I didn't have the information and didn't know where to find it.

No contact from solicitor until today when she has sent me a letter asking the two questions again. No acknowledgement of my answers to all the other questions *or* my email asking for help.

I am going to have to drag the entire $OldFlat boxfile into werk tomorrow and phone her, and hope that I can get something sorted before I go away. This is really stressing me out.

So it would be a real lifeline if any of you can advise on ...

obtaining 'copy consent of when the flats were originally built'

and

confirming 'whether any breaches have been made by construction of the road

Do you have a resident's association or management company? Those were the sort of questions the company secretary and I would have answered at Swallow Court. Although actually they sound more like the sort of thing the council might know, so I've no idea why the solicitor is asking you.

Good luck.

Your local records office, or the local council planning department might be able to help you, also. Also perhaps the land registry office.

Er - these are the sort of things you're paying your solicitor to find out.

Sounds to me like a turkey of a solicitor - especially considering the service you appear to be getting. A no nonsense chat could be in order, possibly followed by a new solicitor.

Absolutely. My solicitor found out all of this for me. They're supposed to be the experts in getting hold of documents from the right places.

Thirded. Suggest you ask this solicitor what you are paying for and sack them.

Incidentally, if you are so minded, it is possible to beFriend an external OpenID account like this so I can peer into all your Dark Secrets.
