Cloud Atlas

Thursday, February 24th, 2005 01:22 pm
I am pleased* to announce that Tesco's are selling Cloud Atlas for £3.73. (Their bestseller chart, most of which is priced at this utterly random-looking figure, includes some other good stuff, such as The Jane Austen Book Club and the new Joanne Harris anthology.)

*though not as pleased as if I hadn't bought it from Amazon last week
Apparently Deptford High Street is the best place in London to shop.

This is the place where people get mugged inside shops; where there is a significant begging and 'street drinking' problem; where schoolchildren dare each other to insult and pester adults ... and, of course, where you can buy all sorts of peculiar things:

I don't think Kit Marlowe was over-impressed either.
I hate the way that being physically / emotionally low erodes my intelligence. Am feeling very ignorant, uncreative and uninterest(ing)/(ed) today.

The answer? I'm going to stop staring at the screen (whether full or empty), go and lie on the sofa, and read something frivolous.
You know how, from time to time, a screw or nail will appear, apparently from nowhere?
And you look at it, frown, and put it somewhere safe?
And then, after an interval long enough that 'somewhere safe' is utterly beyond your ken, something will slowly and unfixably fall apart?

The screw I found last week was the last-but-one screw holding my desk chair together.

Does anyone have a desk chair (adjustable height, preferably swivel-style) available for delivery to SE8?
