Ataraxia in Essex
Tuesday, July 10th, 2007 08:36 pmSaturday would have been my father's 81st birthday. Since it was a glorious day I decided to celebrate it and him by heading back to the Essex marshes.( Essex, Illustrated )
Slightly Less of Essex
Wednesday, July 5th, 2006 11:25 pm115 hectares less land-surface, to be more precise.
When I lived just up the road from Wallasea, we were more interested in keeping the sea out. But apparently the European Court has told the Government that it was illegal to destroy so much marshland in the 1990s, and they're having to make up for it by letting the sea flood land that used to be wheatfields.
I can think of a lot of other areas that would be improved more by such measures.
