Petty Snarls

Argh. It's one of those weeks, I can tell.

I posted a while back about my father being admitted to hospital. Beginning of the end? Er, no. Not of course that the hospital would tell me anything over the phone. "Could you just drop by and chat to the duty staff?" "Sure, it's only 300 miles."

He went in for some sort of test. He was then (much to everyone's surprise) sent back to the nursing home (I discovered this when a neighbour called to say she'd gone to visit him at the hospital and he wasn't there). Am still not clear on what the test is for, or when the results are due, or what they will do about anything.

Am clear on several things, namely the utter uselessness of Plymouth Hospital Trust: the fact that my father gets very stressed out by hospitals, and this can't have helped: and the incompetence of nursing home staff who have lost his false teeth, thus making it impossible for anyone to have a clue about what he is trying to say.

So I don't need to rush to Plymouth after all.

Except ...

... the TA call-up means that my niece's fiance is off to sunnier climes on 21st February. This, in turn, means that the wedding is being brought forward. To Saturday.

But:

1. Haven't a thing to wear.

2. Had other plans (B-Movie, 'Stop the War' march, sloth).

3. Don't actually like my niece (I am a changeling, you know).

4. Way too late to get a cheap train ticket!

Drugs are my friends: but, to quote Gollum, "You haven't got any friends." Yes, am too stupid to get prescription filled before I run out of painkillers. What a jolly night I had. Am off to Boots in a moment to get excitingly different painkillers, which had better work quickly.

On the bright side:

1. Those painkillers did work, after all. Well, it hurts much more now I'm not taking them.

2. They were almost definitely the cause of the dizzy spells I've been getting, so switching is a sensible idea.

3. And I have a hospital appointment next week, where they will tell me to stop wasting their time cure me instantly.

More, more cheerfully, in another post.

Oh yes. I am going. (So much shit going on family-wise it is untrue). Sister has cheerfully reminded me that no one in Plymouth has seen much of my wardrobe apart from black trousers and jumpers ...

But ugh! will have to sit* in Standard Class, where the screaming brats and Friday-night drunkards are.

*probably 'stand', until Exeter

I really don't envy you that trip, but perhaps you can find out more about what's going on with your father?

Shall send silly supportive text messages all weekend. Except around noon, of course.
