I need a couple of nautical terms translated to Spanish:
- 'shallow draught', as of a boat that doesn't need much water to float; a flat-bottomed boat
- 'paddle', as in oar.

I suspect the entire MS is riddled with hilarious mistranslations, but these seem especially prone to error.

paddle,oar = remo (noun, masculine --> el remo, un remo)
(infinitive) remar = to paddle

About the other term, you could use "patera" to refer to a boat with a flat bottom. It's feminine, so it would be 'la patera' or 'una patera'. Pateras are, for example, the boats illegal immigrants use to try and cross from Africa to Andalucia.

thank you, darling! Online translation sites are fine for the simple stuff, but I'm fairly sure that what I was being offered for 'shallow draught' had something to do with a small drink!

I hesitate to ask, but how would you feel about further consulations of this sort? Nothing time-consuming, just single words and short phrases ...
