Night Stair, Hexham Abbey: as described in Dorothy Dunnett's 'A Game of Kings', the scene where Lymond shoots and is shot. Crypt beneath Abbey - 7th century, including worked Roman stone - much more interesting, claustrophobically atmospheric.
