Anachronisms

Went to see Starsky and Hutch with [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray last night. Just what I needed: mindless fun, and very funny. But there's one problem: that scene in the bar, where they're discussing whether a 5'9" guy can be 'Big Ed'. Owen Wilson (who looks nothing like David Soul, but is very engaging) says, "it could be ironic, y'know?"

And this is wrong. Because they didn't have irony in the Seventies.

Which, as the painfully authentic costumes and soundtrack reminded me, is probably a Good Thing.

I didn't like the movie, but I did enjoy the bit duruing the disco dance shootout where the DJ says "and here, from the future of 1984, the robot!" or words to that effect.

Snoop Dogg was really good in this film.

Must go see.

Will not repeat The Door-failure, i.e. going with my Mum. The only one who got all the in-jokes and embarrassed me horribly by laughing too loud.

I was very young *g*
