[film] X-Men: Days of Future Past (24-May-14)
Friday, May 30th, 2014 08:14 amI enjoyed X-Men: First Class immensely (not least because of the McAvoy / Fassbender on-screen chemistry); Days of Future Past didn’t work quite as well for me, but the time-travel plot was suitably convoluted and the Seventies vibe was, if anything, underplayed. (Not nearly enough cheesy pop! However, some very cheesy shirts … and Charles Xavier’s hair scored highly on verisimilitude, though also made a good argument for future baldness.)
My favourite scene was Quicksilver’s leisurely choreography to the tune of ‘Time in a Bottle’: this sets the bar pretty darn high for MCU!Quicksilver. Peter Dinklage's Trask was fabulous, and definitely in the Stark spectrum (anagram! leading to frenzied speculation ...) Several recurring themes (oooh look, there’s … Mystique; Wolverine is hurt! oh, he got better) which began to wear on me a little … and I confess I have little or o idea what the post-credits scene was about. But overall, I was entertained.
