tamaranthI think I may have found out what is happening to some of the email that never reaches me.
Just now -- in the middle of an unexceptional websurf / LJ catch-up & comment -- a new email arrived. And I saw who it was from and the title: but then the hard drive made 'waking up' noises (not sure why it was asleep in the first place) and the whole thing crashed. (This happens at least once a day). Losing all the pages I was looking at, the comment I was halfway through, the file into which I'd pasted links ... and, as it turns out, the new email -- which is nowhere to be found, neither on the Avnet server nor on the PC.
This is getting beyond a joke. Hope the tax demands arrive soon so I know whether I have anything left over to buy a new PC. If not, I'll have to give up on LJ and the rest of this Internet thing for a while: the hardware simply isn't up to it.
