... on the iPod: just another thing, like my PDA and my phone and my notebook and my good lipstick, that some little bastard deprived me of by mugging me at the DLR station last night (right next to the CCTV camera, though this will not bring back the contents of my handbag or indeed the long-sought handbag itself).

It could have been much worse. I'm unhurt, and it wasn't nearly as frightening as last time. But it did shake me up badly, and I'm not sure my insurance covers any of it ... and, most importantly, I am so sick of having to be nervous. If this can happen at 6pm in a well-lit station as people are coming home from work, then nowhere around here is safe.

Am so thankful for my friends, though: ladymoonray and asynje came over to keep me company, and swisstone left the pub early to come down and escort asynje back to her hotel. And then there was the Good Samaritan who called the police for me, waited with me and gave me £20. Good to remember that some people are, well, good.

Beginning to feel like Arthur Dent, though: whatever the universe thinks it is doing to me, I would like it please to stop. I am fed up with having to deal with emergencies. I want boredom. And new locks.

I have a spare working mobile if you want to borrow it - it's a Pay As You Go and there's even some credit on it! I've also got a spare, ancient Palm (still working I think) if you are desperate, just say the word and I'll ferry it/them over to you. Can probably help with lipstick too, but not the Latvian folk music...

extra aggression not a problem, darling: I have plenty of that myself! And luckily I had only just 'upgraded' the Palm, so still had the old one (gift from ajshepherd after the last incident) which is now running my life for me. Worst thing is waiting for Virgin to send me SIM card so I can get everyone's mobile numbers! But then, I was thinking of switching phone companies anyway ...
