As soon as I saw the trailer (which features Helen Mirren with a machine gun) I was hooked. Sadly, there is not as much Helen Mirren with a machine gun as I had hoped. But Bruce Willis, John Malkovich and Morgan Freeman do excellent work; Karl Urban is a good foil; the film scrapes through the Bechdel test, just about; it's funny, though somewhat creepy if one identifies with Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker, also pretty good); and there are several exciting and inspirational scenes featuring Helen Mirren with a machine gun. Fun!

I'm not familiar with Warren Ellis's original graphic novel, though, so I can't say how close the adaptation is.

I suspect it has very little to do with the original graphic novel. Then again the original was a three issue comic, and if they'd adapted that it might have made a half hour TV show.

It does sound like fun, and it has Helen Mirren with a machine gun.

Ahem! Helen Mirren with a Heavy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2_machine_gun) machine gun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M2_machine_gun)

(I can't be sure from the trailer, but it's almost certainly an M2.)
