New BBC Sherlock

- character interplay & general snark
- reimagining / reinvention of elements from original canon (scratches on mobile phone rather than watch, 'Afghanistan or Iraq?' 'come at once ... if not convenient come anyway', Harry short for Harriet)
- the visual aesthetic (e.g. the text message displays)
- LONDON
- Holmes' addiction to problem-solving though he is not very good at it
Less impressed by:
- the 'plot' -- even if I hadn't read A Study in Scarlet I would have picked up on what was happening before the characters did
- no, really, the plot was stupid and did not conclude in any decent fashion
- sheer randomness of some of Holmes' actions -- original is not this oblivious / careless
- Benedict Cumberbatch's eyes are too small, and his makeup too thick.
- points at which, either because of the script or the acting, Holmes seemed to be channelling the Eleventh Doctor
Plenty of resonances between this, the Guy Ritchie film, and House -- all based on same canon, all riffing off each other. I still prefer Robert Downey Jr over Cumberbatch, and even Jude Law over
