Okay I had to think about this one for a bit.

My thoughts (general ramblings):
Sometimes people are being honest with you, but they are saying exactly what they mean at the time of saying it and then later don't mean it anymore - common. Sometimes people, without realising it, say what they think you want to hear, or even don't say what they think you don't want to hear - confusing that one.

I can give a good example - I view that I am very honest (to the point of being blunt) but I also love being nice! Therefore if I give a compliment to people it's because I mean it but at the same time I will often bite my tongue over negative comments and therfore I am actually not being honest!

Anyway what I am trying to say is that some times people are just people and that we all make mistakes and do stupid things and [hugs]

Oh, absolutely -- there are a lot of reasons, some of them quite good, why people might not be entirely honest. And I'd hate you to think that this post was 'about' a single easily-explained incident: it wasn't! (Though it was sparked by an evasive answer where a simple 'yes' or 'no' would have been much easier to deal with ...)
