K and I skipped the BSFA in favour of a British Library event - Hilary Mantel reading from and talking about her new novel 'Wolf Hall' (reviewed here recently) which is an account of the life of Thomas Cromwell. Mantel made some interesting observations about the craft of the historical novelist - write-up soon. We also got unheralded Derek Wilson, who contributed a cutting, albeit not wholly relevant, critique of the Literary Establishment. Dining at Browns in St Martins Lane - white port and tonic, mmmm. Also some food.
