I've been putting together a framework for doing the kind of things that make me fulfilled, 'better', more myself. And then I had to work that framework into an acronym ...
C is for Culture -- reading, music, art, museums, architecture, theatre. Soaking up other people's creations.
A is for Art -- writing, collaging, painting, making things, card-making.
S is for Social -- seeing people, writing letter-length emails, keeping in touch
P is for Physical -- exercise (swimming, cycling, walking, Pilates) and also things like massage
I is for Intellectual -- devoting thought to something: book-reviewing: learning about something: research ...
A is for Altruism -- doing things for others
N is for New -- doing / experiencing something I haven't done or experienced before. (Possibly quite a bit of crossover with Culture.)
These are not daily goals but I'm aiming to do something towards each of them each week: more frequently with Art, Physical, Culture ...
And yes, it's all pretty self-centred and selfish, but it doesn't have to be: besides, if I'm not balancing, nurturing, growing myself I won't have anything to offer others.
For example, last week:
Culture: Friday lunchtime concert; Sunday lunchtime opera; read a bit.
Art: card-making; a worldbuilding exercise that I should turn into a story.
Social: snowman-building, walks in snow, wine and DVDs, Fitz / lunch on Sunday.
Physical: swimming, cycling, Pilates
Intellectual: Breughel lecture? don't think there was much else.
Altruism: hair-dyeing; cat-feeding (my scars let me show you them); misc domestic
New: driving to Luton?! Listening to Taneyev? extracting car from icy slush.
