Bloody hot

It's very hot. It's so hot that not only is the M25 melting, but so is the entire infrastructure of British life. I exaggerate, but only slightly.

Just went to Tesco's to buy some food. Nearly all their refrigeration units have given up the ghost. And there is no fresh bread (possibly because the bakers refuse to make it any hotter in there). They have sold out of ice cream, except the soya alternative, which is disgusting. This is the superstore: will try Tesco Express later. Their refrigeration was working a treat last night. I could have stayed in there for hours -- though jhaelan's party was great fun, and had a higher incidence of fire-eaters and flame poi.

PC is crashing all over the place, too: three blue-screen-of-death failures so far today (against none in the last six months).

In further evidence of melting morality, I wore shorts to go clubbing the other night. Black ones, of course. With silver embroidery. And fishnet tights. But still. (B-Movie was fun, very hot but no more so than anywhere else: aircon on the dance floor kept it bearable. Far too much underwear on display, though.)

Want to live on the beach, where temperatures are lower (27o when we left yesterday evening, as opposed to 35o in Lewisham 90 minutes later) and the water is warm (17-18o, apparently). And there are fishes swimming happily (or sadly: I really shouldn't make assumptions) in the water, and a cool breeze, and no melting technology -- though I think there is sand in my keyboard.

Flat is actually quite cool, since there's a breeze blowing through it. Am now going to abandon the computer for a little while and hope it cools down!

NB: As I typed this, clouds appeared, the wind rose, and the temperature dropped. I hope you are all grateful.
