On post-locking, filters etc.

tamaranthJust for clarity, as I have been discussing this elsewhere (offline!) and wanted to set my thoughts out in order:
I use quite a few filters on this LJ. These filters include but are not limited to 'people in area A', 'people of gender B', 'people who have expressed an interest in C', 'people who know context of situation D', 'people who are wise in the ways of E'.
I also make private posts: often these are just links to posts I've made on locked communities, for my own reference; occasionally these posts record the status of ongoing health issues; sometimes these posts are spaces for thoughts that I'm not yet ready to post about.
I post 'friends-only' posts, not specifically filtered, when I don't mind quite a few people (including potential future Friends) reading them but don't want them accessible by the general public. (This is not foolproof.) This does not imply that I want this to be a 'safe space', just that there are things that aren't random strangers' -- or acquaintances' -- business. I would, however, hope it was obvious that I didn't want that information used in ways that might adversely affect me. (For instance, I'd rather not have my thoughts on $FinancialMisadviceCo passed on to said company.)

I maintain the right to post about whatever I want to post about, to express unpopular views in those posts, and lock or unlock those posts as I see fit: this is my personal LJ.
