Sorry, I misunderstood what you were saying: When S2 came out, there was a Plan to allow people to force the "default" (ie pale blue and white) S2 comments page (which is what you get if you do the # thing - see my memories for how to do it).
It doesn't seem to have happened yet.
I and (afaik) sbisson are using the S2 "default view" (ie prettier root pages) but are still using our S1 styles for /journal and /friends, becuase we put a lot of effort in and S1 is more obviously customisable than S2.
This fix, as I understand it, is good if you use the S2 /journal and /friends, and possibly if you use the S2 default, but doesn't work if you use the S2 default with S2 styles.
