This has nearly caused several traffic accidents, for reasons I feel are obvious.

And yes, that is 'falling' 'snow'.

Also, is illuminated.

Sorry this aspect of Christmas has invaded the UK. I loath these things!

I think it's even worse here, possibly just because of so many houses in close proximity!

Quite! I had hopes of a Sad Mishap during yesterday's gales, but no such luck.

Do you think Ozy might like to play with it? He is very sharp.

He may not want to go anywhere near it, and who could blame him? But you could always give him the bow & arrows...

Oh, that's nothing. Most years, there are some houses over towards Cherry Hinton that take Christmas Lights One-Upmanship to truly insane levels. Given that they're close to the approach path to Cambridge Airport, they probably border on being a hazard to air navigation.

But I don't have to look at the ones in Cherry Hinton every time I open my curtains or leave via the front door ...

I think you'll find it's falling polystyrene.

The Not So Little Monkeys have bows and arrows...

Oh my! And not in a good way.

There is, on my new weekly walk to the supermarket, a house which has a life-size Santa Claus outside, holding a lantern (all very Light of the World), and the figure is made either of wood or resin ... it's pretty hefty, whatever it is, and not collapsible. Given the size of the houses, and the lack of internal storage space, I have to ask (after the initial 'why?') where they store it for the other fifty weeks of the year. It is just not the kind of thing you want to see in a domestic garden.

Never trust any PVC Santa Snowman wearing a green cap, for they are evil, summarizeth The Lord, who also, for fair measure, sayeth "Thy pet is but for to maketh puddings upon the abominations of all the earth; yea, even those unto thine own place of sojourn". It would therefore be kindest . .

Sadly, I've seen worse, including the 6 foot tall inflatable santa illuminated from inside in Aylesbury...

ACK. The plague is spreading! There is SO MUCH of that here - some yards have several figures - illuminated, animated, inflatable and often 8 feet tall.

You have my wholehearted sympathy.

A couple of years ago there was a house down the street from me which had a huge inflatable santa and an equally huge inflatable snowman attached to their front wall.

Then one night, it got a bit windy, and neither Santa or Snowman were ever seen again.

That was the funniest thing EVER!

LOL!! So much fun reading all the comments!! These inflatables are all over the place here. One of my favorites is a huge Homer Simpson Santa, which has been up in front of one house on a fairly busy street for several Christmases, now. I have to say, they don't seem to cause accidents around here. I guess we're used to them.

We have white "icicle" lights this year, and daughter is putting up a strand of sparkly colored ones along their top edge this morning (party tonight). Other than that, we have a three candle affair in the window that looks rather pretty. No inflatables, but my daughter has lusted after the animatronic light up moose down at Target for years.

There's a house up the road from me which has been slowly adding to its decorations. They added a santa effigy which appeared to be clinging to the wall and about to enter by the window. If there's a small child in that room, I suspect they'll have nightmares for weeks.
