cat-waxing

Wordz not flowing today. Bah. Distracted myself with the 'Bands I Have Seen' meme via [livejournal.com profile] swisstone and [livejournal.com profile] sneerpout, but got bored around the hundred mark. (Actually, more forgetful than bored. The early 90s are a bit of a blur, really. And I saw a lot of gigs at UEA.)

Self-challenge: 45K by the end of the evening. That's only (for values of 'only' extending to 'daily average >5000 for last 3 days) 3,500 words. Never mind the quality, feel the bulk!

Ozy is not being waxed. I would not dare. He is Outside.

Cat Waxing: Behavior the author undertakes to avoid working on the WIP. E.g. "I've mowed the lawn, washed the windows, weeded the garden, scrubbed the toilets, and worked out all my menus for the next three months. Guess it's time to ... wait! How long has it been since I've waxed the cat?" (http://www.frankbaron.com/writersglossary.htm)

Happy Thanksgiving, darling!

Oh! I do that all the time, especially lately, lol! Thank you for the enlightening info.

And thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes. I'm at my daughter's in Santa Barbara and it's a beautiful, sunny day! Only in the 60's though, which is nice for turkey cooking. :)

My best wishes for your success in writing today!

Only in the 60s

*cries* 8 degrees here: oh, wait, quaint Fahrenheit = 40ish ...

Hope you're having a marvellous day! Love to all!

*sends good writing mojo*

And HEE! I love the idea of cat-waxing. The phrase is now part of my lexicon, since I'm a master of the technique. My personal best in the avoidance category is the time I put my Trivial Pursuit cards in numerical order - all five sets of them. *facepalm*

Yep, I can't beat you on that particular aspect of cat-waxing, though I did spend three hours this morning trying to find folkloric dates for each scene in this Thing ...

Good writing mojo received! (I think ...)

I hate you, you know that? :-p Getting to 45k by the end of the evening will put you bang on target and you'll only have to write the standard 1,667 words a day to finish on time.

I, however, have a personal target of 40k by bedtime tonight. Because I am hideously behind. God knows how I'm going to write 10k in three days... *tears hair out*

Does it help or hurt if I say I wrote 16K between Monday morning and Wednesday evening?! (Clearly I can only keep that rate up for a few days: but it can be done, especially if you stop worrying about quality.)

My personal 50K deadline is Saturday morning, because (a) I think it's going to take a couple more thousand words, and (b) I need to spellcheck and tidy up the worst bits and send it off to somebody ...

Is true. She is a catflap. A mind-controlled one.

It is DEAD COOL.

Poor Zil! Hugs for kitteh! I promise never to take you to V-E-T or yank your teeth out.

Keep an eye on your primate. If she starts wearing new jewellery made of fangs, it is your duty to take action.

There is a safe haven here.

hmmm; if you wax the cat, you won't be able to do any cat hoovering for some months

you will be able to rewax within ten days, if it grows as fast as the Jeffster, but he still hasn't reached full fur length - and the guard hairs are spikey after being shorn!
