Freecycle: you give away things you don't want, and get extra stress and annoyance in return. (It doesn't help that I find it hard to really concentrate on anything if I am waiting for an expected interruption.)

I have caved and arranged for somebody to pick up all the uncollected / unwanted / unlisted items tomorrow. Yay!

I've not yet used freecycle. I find that living 5 minutes from the Council dump and owning a car takes care of most of my disposal issues... (they have recycling facilities for stuff wot is recyclable, it's not like it all goes to landfill).

Of course, there's always the 'leave it on the pavement with a note' option - that seems to work well in certain urban areas. My sister recently got rid of a 32" tv that weighed over 10 stone via that method...

Suspect that leaving stuff on the pavement around here would mean an Angry Pedestrian Incident!
Freecycle very good for odds and ends: less good for quantities of stuff, to be collected, when one's already rather frazzled.

Seconded. ChavCycle is great stuff. [livejournal.com profile] arkady got rid of a completely dead printer by leaving it outside for an hour.
