Back from the vet

[tamaranth]

It's not looking good. She's lost a lot of weight and is very dehydrated. We discussed whether it is worth hospitalising her and concluded probably not -- it'd stress her (and me) and would only postpone the inevitable.

Blood tests should be back this afternoon. Possible diagnoses include brain lesions, kidney problems, liver problems, bowel cancer. Will make decision once results are through, but it's a case of when rather than if.

We have expensive Hills Diet slooshy food and some lactulose. We have She has had an enema, what larks.

Retiring to sofa now.

Edit: another fit, 10:45, quite brief but very violent.
edit: and another, 19:30, brief but violent. Definite warning signs (enlarged pupils, staring)

Hugs to Shiva and her blob. I'm sure you're absolutely right to avoid hospitalising her - with hindsite, I wish I had allowed Bada to die at home rather than be prodded and poked about by strangers durin her last days.

We have yet another ill cat here - Aliss (in icon) has stopped eating, and is off to the vet at lunchtime.

You might want to talk to the vet about pain control (Metacam, or something stronger) if the prognosis is that she's good for more than hours. They're very bad at telling us they hurt.
