Compare selection count and whole document (*only* document) count...

EDIT TO ADD: about those weird comments ... this is how they show up on the laptop.

Oops!

I can't help but wonder if someone put the captions the wrong way round in the dialog box.

Still, you get what you pay for!

if I paste it into a new document, it comes up with selection 0, document 493, so is not wrong captions. Just Badness!

I hear you re ’get what you pay for’ but this is touted as a serious competitor to MS Office. It’s what we used as a matter of principle at ExJob. And it means I am still looking for a decent Linux text editing app ...

That's weird, your comments are coming up in a completely different font to everything else!

Weirder still is in the email notification your comment comes out as complete gibberish!

I don’t think it’s LJ, I think it’s combination of Linux, EEEEEE and this machine not knowing my LJ prefs.

Though it is possible I am just very very sPeCiAl.

I suspect it's posting Unicode when plain ASCII would be more appropriate. No clue as to why or what to do about it, though...

You know, I read that as 'evilly moonspaced'. Which, to me, makes more sense.

Oh, lovely. And here I was considering DLing OpenOffice. Pah. You get what you pay for indeed.

And yes, your comment text looks weird. Good luck sorting out whatever's wrong!

it does usually work much better than that! Cannot help but wonder if it is some weirdness of my EEEEE.

Is that the same OpenOffice you were recommending to me yesterday?

it's meant to work better than that!

To be honest, I do wonder if some of it is EEEEE-ness. See comments above (and if you could see what I, back on normal laptop, am seeing, you would appreciate that something is Wrong ...)

I've posted to LJ from my EEEEEE and not had any problems. I'm not sure if I commented from it at any time though, I might have but I can't be sure.
I think LJ just updated their rich text editor and so it could be a problem with that and the version of firefox on the EEE, or something.

OpenOffice isn't bad. I don't use it very much but it's handy having it on the machine for occasional use. (It opens some formats MSWord has difficulty with.) It's a bit slow and a bit clunky . . . but then so is MSWord!

Me, I hang out for WP5.1 for DOS!

Hmmm, I'd just been thinking about d/l-ing Open Office to see if it works any better for me than MS Office 97. Maybe I'll still try it though.
