To be honest, I do wonder if some of it is EEEEE-ness. See comments above (and if you could see what I, back on normal laptop, am seeing, you would appreciate that something is Wrong ...)
I've posted to LJ from my EEEEEE and not had any problems. I'm not sure if I commented from it at any time though, I might have but I can't be sure. I think LJ just updated their rich text editor and so it could be a problem with that and the version of firefox on the EEE, or something.
OpenOffice isn't bad. I don't use it very much but it's handy having it on the machine for occasional use. (It opens some formats MSWord has difficulty with.) It's a bit slow and a bit clunky . . . but then so is MSWord!
