Doing some tidying / looking for some paperwork: I keep finding scraps of paper with Deep Thoughts on 'em. Transcription -> fewer scraps of paper.

After seeing an English-language production of Lucia di Lammermoor:
'no longer here on earth' means something quite different in Victorian opera than in SF.

especially if your SF has a dimension where physics and hence lengths are difference. how about Victorian steampunk opera where they're comparing shrinkage on transported metal?
