1. I'll be supporting the LJ Strike tomorrow by not posting. Though I am doubtful as to whether the strike will have any effect, I am increasingly disillusioned with LJ's treatment of paying customers*.

2. I'm used to random muscle pain post-stress, but for the last 24 hours or so I've been having it without the stress. (At least without conscious stress.) It's rather like the aches and pains that go with flu, though there are spikes of more severe pain that get through the Volterol which has made today hazy.
2a. I have just remembered the other thing that gives me random muscle pain, and it is migraine. I'm trying not to brace myself because that won't help.

3. Eastercon tomorrow til Monday. Am in overflow #2. Intending to maintain good balance between con stuff and chilling out.

I thought half the 'strike' was about the treatment of non-paying customers, ie free accounts all having ads now?

The removal of the Basic account (which does affect anyone who creates communities or secondary accounts) is just part of it. Changes to TOS, pop-up advertising, misreporting stats ... most vexingly, changes without consultation or clear notification. I don't currently plan on quitting LJ -- I've been here too long and invested too much content and commitment -- but I'm not as comfortable as I was.

Hope the migraine doesn't materialize and that you have a great time at Orbital even if it does.

Have a Luck Dragon!

did you spot they've apologised?

apologised for which bit? The misreporting of interests, the new features one can't opt out of, the statement that most basic accounts are created so that users can misbehave*, the pop-up ads, the lack of clarity on TOS?

*"a rather significant portion of [Basic accounts created in the last 2 years] are so-called sockpuppets, created by existing users for the purposes of spamming, littering the Yandex search database, and leaving the sorts of comments that lead to banning or suspension. In other words, there is practically no regular demand for Basic accounts" -- Anton Nosik, the leader of SUP, interview translated here (http://furiosity.livejournal.com/472399.html#cutid1). As someone who's created quite a few basic accounts in that period -- mostly communities -- I find this patronising and inaccurate.

just for the way they announced it (I didn't follow the interests bit but they claim to have fixed that too).

BTW, Nosik isn't the head of SUP - he does work for them - and he claims in his LJ to have been mis-translated. I hold no brief to defend SUP - I'm livid at the way they've broken post by mail and done nothing to fix it - but I buy Nosik's claim not to be speaking officially but as an independent (independent idiot, though)
