well, I managed to get out of bed, have a bath, get dressed, de-Christmas the flat, write a book review and walk up the hill to retrieve the car (parking round here is dreadful during the day: I left work Thursday lunchtime and had to park quite a way away: thought the walk would do me good and also wanted the car a bit closer for tomorrow morning).

Then I crashed out on the sofa for a couple of hours.

Awake again now but very sleepy, and sinuses still sore and bloody.

I have to go to werk tomorrow (there are things I can do that I want to get done) but heaven knows how I'm going to get through it.

No chance of yoga or swimming for a few days yet I suspect.

Can't help wondering how much longer this is going to last: I've felt ill (from 'moderate' to 'very') every day since 19th December.

I've had the dehydrated nose / sinus part of it, and have found long hot showers help. And was well enough today to go to the gym and hang out in the steam room for a while, that worked wonders. I still get terrible shortness of breath as soon as I go outside, though, I can't even speak until I've got adjusted. This really was a stinker.

dehydrated? I wish! gooey and, literally, bloody.

I don't think I can go anywhere much. I just had a can't-breathe episode because of typing. (At least, that's the most strenuous thing I was doing.)

Head hurts too. Though that may be the Cherryh novel I've just finished ...

It was gooey and bloody, then it dried out and went all scabby and tight and scratchy. And bloody. My throat has calmed down, since John introduced me to strawberry sugar-free Strepsils.

I am strangely reassured by your having had the gooey bloodiness too. I like that past tense.

Fingers crossed the antibiotics really start kicking in soon!

I sounds to me like you should stay at home tomorrow!

I would! but
- boss is back from NZ for three whole days before she goes to USA
- head-of-dept is back from Xmas and can sign off budget for my swan-song project
- have meeting with HR in which they feed me chocolates and I tell them how howwid it all is
- have meeting with head of development in which I tell him how little what I am going to do between now and Thursday week
- GERM WARFARE

Anyway, I get to leave at 3.

And it'll be nice to be away from the Hounds of Hell ...

Bugger all that! You're ill and you need to get better. If you go anywhere tomorrow, it sounds like it should be the Dr, not the Werk. Surely everything except the choccies can be done remotely - and I have spare choccies here I can send, so that's everything covered.

Can see point re germ warfare, but if you're into bacterial complications now you're probably not contagious to healthy people anyway.

(Sorry to hear Hounds of Hell are still a pain - was hoping they'd settled into silent doggie bliss by now.)

Oh, did Dr on Friday instead of werk: have antibiotics: am a bit better, just not much ...

Hounds of Hell woke me up earlier. I can sleep through darling pusscats and their tickly whiskers, but rabid canines another matter.

I hope your antibiotics kick in soon, this all sounds really horrible.

Get well soon.
