re this entry, do any of you have Sky TV, a DVD recorder and the willingness to record a documentary for me?

It'll take my mind off my property-sale woes ...

We're another sky-free house, alas.

sorry, ntl.

Whatever it is might turn up on on of the other, non-Sky, history channels sooner or later - they all seem to show the same things eventually.

boo ntl!
It's a documentary about William Dampier (as in my Nanowrimo 3 years ago), presented by Vic Reeves. Sadly, chances of me finding out about any rerun are slim in the extreme ... sheer luck that I discovered this, a tag-end to a news story about some Somerset voluntary organisation!

Um... The History Channel (which is not Sky History) is showing an hour of something about pirates with Vic Reeves at 5pm this Sunday - is that what you mean? If so, anyone with ntl/virgin should be able to tape it for you (we, unfortunately, do not have a DVD recorder!)

That sounds as though it could be the same thing, yes, put through a local newspaper filter of 'look, relevant to article'.

*quick look at original email*

"Vic Reeves is presenting a programme on Sky History Channel about William Dampier and it is due to be shown on Sunday, 25 November at 5.30pm."

No wonder I'm confused! Thanks for clarification: that may well make life easier ...

Well, I've actually seen the show in question - there's a whole series of 1/2 hour programmes about different pirates. As such, William Dampier will get a whole 1/2 hour show to himself; however, I would say the shows in general are a little simplistic, more aimed at kids, so don't get your hopes up about any insightful commentary...

Seems likely that if the Radiotimes listing shows pirates from 5-6pm there'll be another episode at 5 before the WD one at 5.30.
