Boo to teknology

My* Dell X300 laptop, so shiny, so small, has started to make a HORRID NOISE as though about to explode. Noise is intermittent; shutting down and restarting doesn't stop it; tilting laptop like an Etch-a-Sketch doesn't stop it; it is much louder than normal disk noise.

I fear it is the death rattle of the hard drive.

WAAAAAH!

*actually a werk laptop that was going spare. Not guaranteed or anything.

Just in case, my advice is to get anything you want to keep off it as quickly as possible.
