quick grammar question

tamaranthDoes the phrase 'resigning himself to force majeure' actually make any sense? I have been staring at it for some time. (And I do kind of want to use 'force majeure' here, it is so much stronger than 'unexpected events' or 'circumstance' -- besides being more in character.)
