Foxen frolicking in the garden again this morning. They are fearless and peer at me curiously. What, they are asking one another, what exactly is this peculiar shambling zebra-striped creature? And why is it pointing a camera at us? Ah well, let's be photogenic.
Cats sit indoors, ignored and dismayed.
Grass, by Sheri Tepper -- a reread, but I don't think I've read it for well over a decade, and there's so much I'd forgotten: the religious elements of the plot, the humour, the plague. But I remembered the horse trembling in the grass; and I remembered foxen.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End tonight. I suspect it will be a disappointment in many respects: but Johnny Depp! Extravagant special effects! Explosions! Swashbuckling! Mythical beasties! Improbable plot twists! Ships! Pirates!
