Yesterday I had a colonoscopy.
The good news: nothing obviously amiss, though they snipped some samples for biopsy.
And I have seen my own insides on TV. They look just like anyone else's.
The bad news: the vaunted sedative (via a cannula in the back of my hand, ewwwww, which I wasn't prepared for!) did not make me 'sleepy and relaxed'. In fact I don't think it worked at all. Pulse rate peaked at 117 (from 'resting' rate of 60). Have probably left bruises on hand of nurse. And can remember more or less everything that was said. And, regrettably, just how much it hurt.
Still, I had the marvellous
ladymoonray to collect me and take me home and feed me several days' worth of calories. She is a star! And we had a nice walk in the woods on the common, and a splendid dinner, and foxen for breakfast this morning.
