The good news is that my father's health is much improved -- miraculously improved, in fact!! He recognised me. He looked pleased to see me. We had a conversation .. and yes, it was a little rambling, but considering that last time I saw him he wasn't responding at all, I am inclined to take the odd reality/dream slip with a shovelful of salt.
His room at the nursing home is very pleasant and he seems to feel much more comfortable there than at the previous place (a residential home). He has a new doctor, who's changed his Parkinson's medication: that probably accounts for a lot of the improvement. And he hates hospitals so much -- being back in his own room, albeit a different room, must be a great relief. The nursing home provides much more intensive case, too. (And, oh joy, it did not have the usual urinous stink).
He lost a lot of weight while in hospital, but despite that when I casually asked him to stand up for a photo, he did it without fuss. I can't remember when he last did that, but it was well before he went into hospital.
We were talking! About Marilyn Monroe films and him throwing away old photographs, and his gunnery notebook -- which is written in pencil because, as he explained, they didn't have ball point pens back then.
We were talking!!!
The bad news is that I've had a killer headache for two days now, and just want to hide in a dark room. Sadly, 'lurking in the dark and hissing' is not scheduled until well after Easter. Will have a lie-in, though. That is scheduled.
