Do you think there's a bit of a resonance with this story and Johanna Sinisalo's 'Not Before Sundown'? Is it a recurring Finnish theme, I wonder, or just a one-off influence?

It definitely reminded me of Sinisalo, though with a more ... sfnal (or possibly just more futuristic feel.
I have to confess, though, that I find a lot of the fiction on that site impenetrable or slight -- maybe a lack in the translation?
