Looking on the bright side. Again.

Today is sure to be better than yesterday.
One of the soldiers killed by 'friendly fire' yesterday was in the same unit as my niece's husband. She spent hours not knowing whether she was a widow or not. She's been married for nearly six weeks.
Yesterday I resigned myself to having to buy a new shower. Also yesterday, I was told that I am being fined £100 as a result of someone else's error. (I'll be reimbursed if my appeal fails. But I have to find the money up front).
Yesterday I was psyched up to do an author interview, and I answered the phone on my way out of the flat: it was her press officer calling to tell me that the interview was postponed until tomorrow.
Spent a fair amount of yesterday being upset by other people characterising me as the villain of various situations. Have decided that this is at least as much to do with them as with me: am now waiting for my emotions to catch up with that realisation.
My father has finally been released to the nursing home! He hates hospitals and I believe he'll fare much better with privacy, peace and quiet, a sunny room and familiar things around him. (It would have been nice if the hospital had told me, either when I spoke to the case nurse at 2pm or when they rang and got my answerphone a couple of hours later. But he's out!)
Yesterday, every single item I bought in Matalan -- all of which were in the £3 sale -- rang up with an incorrect price.
Waiting for the lovely
nolley to take me shower-shopping. Will cook him elaborate gourmet lunch pasta. Again. Off to Big Film Company for another three hours of finding a PC that works. Then -- joy!! --- my yoga class. I'm feeling the effect of missing last week's -- I feel knotted both physically and mentally.
Got the test results back from Mr Joint Consultant. I do not have arthritis or various other obvious joint-pain conditions. They don't know what it is, but it isn't something they can spot so I shouldn't worry ... I'm off the Volterol (in favour of decent paracetamol/codeine as needed).
The only side-effect of going from 3 Volterol a day to none seems to be that I am getting a reprise of another set of side-effects, to do with temperature control. (Some of you will remember the Icy Hand at B-movie, and if you're going to have one hand drastically colder than the other, what better place than a crowded sweaty nightclub?) The flipside is that I get over-hot very quickly (like a dinosaur) and get patches of flushed, heated skin (most often the upper-back triangle). Can be entertainingly blotchy in a way that I used to have to drink half a bottle of port to achieve.
Off to shop!
