1. PILBO, bah. IKEA 1, Tamaranth 0. Have played at furniture-assembly (it has to be a game, or they wouldn't do so much of the work for you -- or leave you the most infuriating part to do yourself) and lost.

2. Does anyone know where I can buy a cheap wooden filing cabinet that'll take foolscap suspension files? I scrapped my Argos one when I left Lewisham, thinking it'd be easy to replace. Wrongwrongwrong. And Argos, online, don't even admit that there's such a concept as foolscap.

3. Kitties frolicked in the frost this morning. They are happy.

what's up with your Pilbo? We [livejournal.com profile] perlmonger didn't have any trouble with ours.

our cats won't go out - they don't care for the cold.

I can do every step except the one with the barrel-things to tighten up the screws, which simply don't tighten very much. Result = wonky non-right-angled table frame, through which bottom board falls, and to which top layer (including metal brace and more Weight) can't be screwed. Heeeeeelp!

My cats seem so grateful for Open Space of their own (they spent 13 years having a huge garden, and the last six months inhabiting two upstairs rooms, with Hissy Things between them and the cat-flap) that they were overjoyed to be allowed out this morning while I drank my coffee. Though I think Shiva wanted to make a complaint about non-warmed patio.

Depends what you class as cheap....

I know both Staples (http://www.staples.co.uk) and Viking (http://www.viking-direct.co.uk) do foolscap filing cabinets, but I'm not sure how cheap they are.... Staples appear to be the cheaper of the two....

Well, my Argos one cost me ~£20, and the ones that Argos do now are £29 (= £9, as I have a £20 Argos credit note ...) I'm hoping for something under £50 but it may have to be via eBay!

Foolscap! That's going back a bit!

But will the cats like the snow? If they play in the snow forecast for tomorrow, you need pictures!

Suspension files are retro chic anyway -- though I have to admit I hadn't thought of foolscap as being outmoded. (Apart from that whole Dead Tree thing.)

The cats will play in the snow, all right. They'll play LET ME IN YOU MONSTER IT'S COLD OUT HERE WE ARE CONTACTING THE RSPCA YOU EVIL HUMAN.

Ikea is ev0l. See this (http://shinysparkly.livejournal.com/tag/entertainment+center+from+hell+onna+stic) for further proof. (And some Swedish cursing you might find helpful.) (Also, yes, I know that the 'k' is left off the end - stupid LJ tags apparently have a character limit.) Though I probably will be dumb enough to buy another *much smaller* tv stand from them in the future. For now, I stare at and hate the one I have each and every day. It's good to have hobbies. ;)

That is a very useful bit of language! *scribbles it on post-it note*
I have to say, I had no trouble putting together the bed (280 parts including screws) or the futon or the lamp or the table. But Pilbo ... BAH.

Or, as they say in Sweden, "Helvetes jävla fanskap".
