Thursday, December 19th, 2002 02:44 pmThis morning we went for a gruelling trekleisurely stroll at beautiful snowy Meyer Ranch. Host and I both negotiated the icy pathways with Elven grace (i.e. did not quite fall over). Due to someone having taken most of the oxygen out of the air, I declined to run lightly over the snow.
Sub-zero temperatures could not detract from the loveliness of the picturesque walks, although they detracted from any attempt to stand still or take pictures. Actually, the morning warmed up very quickly: on our way up it was bitterly cold and painful on exposed flesh, on the way back down (some 40 minutes later) I was gloveless and debating removing a layer or two.

After this interlude in the snowy woods, I felt refreshed and invigorated: so I went to Walmart in search of my inner capitalist. Bought:
- new sunglasses (old ones, while cool and efficient in British climate, are not up to Colorado sun)
- glittery fruit-flavoured lipsalve with pretty plastic gem detail
- fake-fur-trim boots with proper grip
- Big Red gum
Am not a real consumer.
