the DEATH of ELECTRICALS

Lately I have been the Death of Electricals. Or at least the Severe Trauma of Electricals. (Like the Death of Rats, but less squeaky.)

There was the keyboard incident, in which my wireless keyboard stopped working mid-sentence.

There was the ensuing keyboard incident, in which I plugged in R's keyboard, and am now greeted with one of those 'serious error reporting' boxes every time I start up.

There was the other other keyboard incident, in which I was unable to type any word containing the letter 'L'. (Not to be confused with the keyboard incident involving the letter 'J'.)

There was the CD-burner incident, in which I tried no less than nine burns before discovering the ritual incantation* to successfully create an audio CD. (Not the first time, either.)

There is the ongoing Vodafone situation, in which my phone repeatedly, and randomly, stops working in one or more respects, and normal function is only restored after hilarious consequences considerable inconveniences have occurred.

There is the ongoing Technicolour monitor situation, in which my monitor -- not content with adding pretty rose-pink tints to B&W photos -- occasionally flickers to a pastel cyan, or green, or yellow hue.

There is the werk monitor situation, in which I went into the office today, switched on my PC, and it went bang and stopped working.

I just got home and switched on the light, and the downstairs lighting circuit went bang. (Which is horribly reminiscent of what happens when I try to plug in my music drives.)

Do you have any redundant, overinsured device that you'd like, er, taken care of? Just bring it round.

*actually, I think it was concerted Telepathic Threats from self and remote-site ladymoonray. When was 'work, you bastard, work' disabled?

Ok, this is painfully funny.

Perhaps you have an extreme version of the condition wherein wristwatches won't run on a person. Your personal electromagnetic field is so strong it overwhelms any gadget that comes in contact with you. Anyone with an implanted pacemaker or defibrillator should stand back.
