A friend (WINOLJ,TF) wonders if the Steve Holland who wrote the Guardian obituary for Andre Norton is the same as the Steve Holland he went to school with.

Have you contacted Dave Langford? He and I had a conversation about Steve Holland a while ago, while I was trying to establish if the Steve Holland who writes on sf biblioigraphy, etc. was the same Steve Holland as works at the university library in Canterbury. Seemingly not.
