Am ever so chuffed to see that Kasabian have been shortlisted in three different categories for the Brit Awards, as I am addicted to their album.

But it is bad and wrong to make statements like "The serpent's going to rise from the sea and scare all the pirates away!"

Even if they are talking about the moribund state of British music.

Regarding it as "both a fiery assertion of rock 'n' roll ethics and proof that a siege mentality is alive and well in the badlands of Rutland Water", the NME's praise was typical of the album's reception.

Ah, the new Rutland sound, following in the footsteps of Dirk, Nasty, Stig and Barry....

Very cool news, but as an USA-ian of a certain age, I can't help stumbling over the band name--Linda Kasabian was the member of the Manson family who was granted immunity to testify during the Tate and LaBianca murder trials. Although she was present at both scenes, she didn't actually kill anybody.

Yes, I absolutely know you wanted to know this, right?

Love and xoxo,

Old Git

I heard on the radio - in a discussion about band name origins - that the band were named after the Manson family's driver.
