Buying Nothing
Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 10:08 amAugust was 'Buy Nothing Month' (it seemed excellent timing after NZ trip and pricy car-repairs). Food, drink, travel, events, replacing consumables like deodorant did not count as 'buying': it was more to do with not acquiring more stuff.
Slippages:
- gave
ladymoonray some money to buy me books at Liverpool Street Station after realising I had a long trip home with flat batteries on PDA and phone. (Normally I would write or stare out of window and think, but it was not a good day for either of these). This is most definitely cheating!
- bought some postcards at the Waterhouse exhibition
- assorted birthday-present shopping.
- I ordered some Filofax refills last night, but the payment won't go through til today :)
All in all, pretty successful -- and unlike the last time I tried this, I don't have a shopping list of resisted impulses. Though I could do with new sunglasses (I have four pairs: one was trodden on, one is uncomfortable if I'm puffy-eyed, one is too tight* and one is held together with a paperclip). And I have a Lush voucher and a Waterstones voucher ...
*I think they're kid's sunglasses, and my eyelashes get claustrophobic
