On the role of the reader
Monday, January 26th, 2009 11:26 am"a book is not finished when it goes to the publishers to be printed. It is only finished when a reader picks it up"
Excellent post riffing from a comment by Bujold about what a reader brings to a book, and how that's as important as what the writer put there. (An argument that I firmly support, not least because readers find positive as well as negative things, things that the writer didn't (?consciously) put there.)
