Short Stories Online, Day 9
Thursday, March 1st, 2007 11:49 am'Faith and Hope Go Shopping', by Joanne Harris
I find much of Harris's short fiction rather disappointing, compared to her novels. Many of them seem to rely too heavily on a one-line twist at the end. (This may be an artefact of the audience she's aiming for, which seems to be the 'women's magazine' market.) But this story does rather more, and does it quietly and unflashily and honestly.
