Somehow managed to achieve perfect balance over the weekend, e.g. went out and did social stuff (and very nice it all was too, what with pub on Friday and picnic / pub / pizza on Saturday *waves to everyone I spouted nonsense at*) and still managed to finish Quicksilver and The Confusion. However, should know better than to start reading when I get home late -- I woke up from uneasy dreams of being crushed to death by a great weight, Saturday morning, to discover that I had dozed off on the sofa while reading Quicksilver ...
My theories are not disproved, though I note that there is at least one less person-of-longevity scurrying around Baroque Europe than I had previously thought. And I am undecided as to whether Mr Stephenson is making a point about the interchangability of individuals on an historical level, or what.
