... and as the thunder crashes overhead, and the rain pours down, I feel oddly satisfied by the realisation that going to the beach is not an option, and that I can stay home, chill out, read, write do BSFA web stuff and so on.

I am going to strangle the weather forecasters if they don't stop saying that there will be a few small showers in assorted bits of England. I've been awake since 4 a.m., and apparently the showers have all ganged up on Folkestone, as it's either raining, about to rain or has just stopped raining.

oh dear, you seem to have got the worst of it ... it was lovely here when I got up around 8am, but now it's cool and grey (though not actively raining at the moment).

Tides at preferred beach favour late afternoon, but if it's not hot and sunny by lunchtime, I'll probably not bother.

Tisn't raining at this bit of beach, although it's gone from gorgeous to threatening four or five times in the last few hours. Still, if it's horrible at Folkestone, I wouldn't give us much longer... (and suddenly there's brilliant sunshine. Of course!)

It's really nice up here. Against that, though, it was quite wet on Friday and Saturday. And I'm in work because the University doesn't take today as a holiday.
