I don't mean everything's better. Everything is objectively the same. I've found my mental spectacles, though: and they're not necessarily rose-tinted, but they bring everything into focus.

... Does that sound glib? It's not meant to. I'm going to indulge myself, do nothing, wallow for a couple of days (not least because this whole pothole-mood started with physical depression, in the form of aches and lethargy that I still haven't shaken): go with the flow, relax and stop fighting the unfightable (it only makes things worse): then I'm going to invoke demonstalk to recruitment agents, start getting things more generally in order, and so on.

Meanwhile, I went book-shopping this evening. (Was looking for a present: didn't find it).

I bought a self-help book.

But! it's OK! It's The Bitch Rules by Elizabeth Wurtzel (author of Bitch: she rocks, and I have high-heeled [livejournal.com profile] fishlifter to thank for that knowledge: thanks!) Wurtzel says good things about self-indulgence and having passionate interests and being single and hiring a cleaner and cat ownership, and holds up Patti Smith as a role model ... full of the common sense I spout to others (and a few things I strongly disagree with, which is healthy in That Sort Of Thing): but I was feeling much more cheerful even before I got to the cash register.

Oh, and I did buy six or seven other books as well. Feel-good novels. Have enough weighty unreads already ...

May not be on so much over the next few days: logging on is marginally more difficult at work, and I have a long weekend away from the home PC. But all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well. (Prize for correct attribution of quotation)

Glad to hear things are looking a little better. Or, at least, looking the same but you feel more able to approach the problems.

Julian of Norwich (http://www.luminarium.org/medlit/julian.htm) via TS Eliot's Little Giddings (http://www.wadada.net/alwarda/eliot/LittleGidd.htm)?

Glad you're feeling better.

your prize is in the cat!
Wasn't feeling bad, as such: just tired of having to deal with more and more non-fun.

I've always preferred East Coker" (http://www.wadada.net/alwarda/eliot/EastCoker.htm) myslef - and in this end is a beginning too.

Dame J also rocks ;-)

Very good idea. Hope you feel a lot better afterwards.
