On Frienditto

Outline of issue here. (Basically, if there are unscrupulous types on your Friends list, your Friends-locked posts may be available elsewhere without your knowing about it.)

Luckily, their TOS includes the clause 'You must be over 18 to use this site', which rules out the majority of LJ users.

I have to confess, too, to being vastly amused by a company whose 'violations and grievances' email address is legalthreats@frienditto.com, and who state "any information sent to this email address other than legal threats will be ignored." (Except, of course, that they reserve the right to publish it wherever they like.) Perhaps someone could explain the difference between 'grievance' and 'threat'? Or, no, don't bother.

No, I don't think it's a problem if a community you're in is listed -- except that whoever listed it might be on your Friends list. The community wouldn't have access to your locked posts, but the person listing it might.
I don't think they'll survive at this rate though -- their site's now up for sale!

Hmm, I'm still not sure I understand it.

So are you only at risk if one of the people listed on there (and therefore on the 'friendditto_cops' lj community) is on your f'list?

you're at risk (potentially) if one of the people who has added a post to frienditto (for which they give their password) is on your Friends list. Because once someone has one of your Friends' user name and password, they could log in as that person and see everything that person could see. (except not really log in, but this is how it works)
