NaNoWriMo underway (though am disappointed with first chapter: still, important psychologically to be started). I don't feel comfortable with characters or setting yet, but this will come. It had better.

Have discovered Flaw in OpenOffice: you can count words in a document, but apparently not any subset thereof -- highlighted paragraphs, for example. Back to Notetab ...

It does not seem to have got light yet. Roll on Spring.

Apple juice now makes me sick, after being poisoned by [livejournal.com profile] moral_vacuum's Cornish Apple Spirit an unpleasant experience on Saturday night. (This was extremely early in the evening, and involved one mouthful of Liquid Evil and subsequent forced vomitting, which I hate: should be distinguished from somnolence later in the evening, which was a result of the gallon or so of healthy pink!drink with which I consoled myself.)

But but it is still only the first of the month!

My chapters are Very Short: given that I find it easiest to write whole scenes (or whatever other stylistic division suggests itself -- chapter, paragraph etc) at a time, and that my writing time is likely to be fragmentary this month, it seemed easiest to aim for 50 x 1000 words, rather than longer chapters that wouldn't get written in one fell swoop.

I'm still impressed.

Ooh, bugger. That's less than useful.

you can (and I did) paste text into another document and count that: but that's not the point! Other than that, OpenOffice is quite sweet, really. But I suspect NoteTab will supplant it as WP of choice.

I should really have a go at something like this. I wanted to write, dagnabbit! Must get off arse and do something. I'm quite envious of anyone who is having a go.

It's not too late to start...

That would probably involve some forward planning, and perhaps An Idea...!

Forward planning is overrated. Plot definitely so. Be post-modern! Just write! You have plenty of interesting experiences to draw on -- and weird interesting friends to cameo ...
