My bruises and aches from last night's BSFA meeting. [Overcrowding] + [fans with no social skills] = being literally pushed out of my seat, and having to stand for the last half-hour. Otherwise I'm sure I'd have enjoyed brisingamen's interview of Nicky Brown much more than I did. (Should've left when I was forced to get up or fall off the bench: but I didn't think of that at the time!)	Have decided to stop liking RetailGiant as an employer, since they seem set on getting rid of me: am about to have a Meeting in which I shall discuss Strategies (e.g. working a lot more to amass a nice leaving-invoice, working less but delaying departure until January, etc). Meanwhile, am busily hating the coffee in the machine: this is a Good Thing, though, as I shall feel more positive about imminent departure.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow has vanished from practically every cinema within the M25 -- and where it is showing, it's at odd child-oriented times (12:20).	Have walked 2,500 steps since I left home this morning. Yay pedometer! Target is 10,000 steps per day: am actually a little surprised that the walk from Victoria isn't longer.
It looks likely that niece's husband, who's in the TA, will be in Iraq for Christmas.	lproven insists that he is not trying to poison me -- "just poisson, ha ha" -- with delayed gifts of Scandiwegian fish.
anniesj's visit from the Secret Service for ill-wishing Bush (or, perhaps, for making the sort of enemy who thinks it reasonable to report her for so doing).	Er ... imminent new laptop! One that won't crash at random intervals!
The insistence of even quite respectable news sites on tagging the newly-discovered species of human -- which may have lived into historic times -- as 'hobbits'.	Um. Working on it. Honest.

Jeez, the secret service thing!

Mind you - Charlie Brooker (Grauniad guide TV critic) got in a bit of hot water after saying "John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald and John Hinckley, where are you now that we need you". Please note that I am quoting, and I am not in any way shape or form suggesting that anything should happen to the President of the USA other than an ingnominious defeat at the polls.
